I HATE NANO. I HATE NANO. I HATE NANO.
It would be a lot less painful if I'd given up earlier because then I would be far far way from the target and I wouldn't care much. But no, instead I have to write 8000 words in three bloody days.
I HATE NANO. |

Another year, another NaNoWriMo. Except this year I have A PLAN. It is an actual proper one too. With wee notes. On characters. And plots and, dear pixies, themes. The theme of the book is that people are pretty untrustworthy and when they use their telepathic brains to form a gestalt entity to rule your civilisation this is a BAD IDEA.
Um, yes. And I found an idea on a site about making plans that involved wee cards and writing stuff on them, so I did that. And now I have scenes for the first third of the book and I can swap them around, which amuses me far too much, but, yes, I know what's going to happen, sort of.
Happily, I shall be pretending no-one is readng this, for I shall post stuff I've written that's rubbish and talk about it and it will all be terrifing because, yes, writing is scary, because I can't hide behind TV characters at all. I like hiding behind other people's characters, yes.
Um, so, it's about Telepathic Romans in Space. That's what won the poll. They go and find artefacts. And then they discover the Space Ants. Um, yes. And at SOMEONE's insistence, I shall be stealing characters sort of a little bit from Fall of the Roman Empire, but they will be girls, yes. Because I default female characters and they're only male if there's a reason for that.
Oooooh, I can start writing at midnight, can't I? Is terribly exciting, yes. I need to get one of those progress counters. Where do they hide them? |

43 029 words. So 4000 words today. Not too shabby. :D I think I might actually make it. Just in time for the end of the semester. *sigh*
The story continues (a brief summary):
Something Bad happened to Zake ,and the narrator, the Regent and Javon (who found the other two on Cairphos where the Bad Thing happened to Zake) have made it to, er, R-something or other which is the Regent's happy world, except someone nicked his throne. Er, not literally. So they've gone to investigate. Find a temple full of religious fanatics, then head to the city and the Regent attacks stuff and then more Bad Things happen, oh my.
Then the narrator runs onto a roof and dances about in the sunlight. Ahem. Yes, well, only 7000 words to go! Hurrah! :D |
